This readme file expresses the terms and conditions
pertaining to the use and distribution of this gauge.
I'll save the other legal mumbo-jumbo for last.

This Helicopter sound gauge is brought to you by Kostidyne Systems Inc.
Specificly me, Brian Kostick (Br5an@aol.com)

About this chopper sound gauge:

The gauge was programmed using VC6 standard edition with a
little creativity, lots of testing, adjusting of code, and with
the help of the FS98SDK gauge routines and the DirectX 5 SDK.

While flying choppers I always thought there should be
a more dynamic sound for the rotor. I toyed around in sound.cfg
files, tried different .wav files, tried out chopper sound configs/
wave by others, ect... Some things worked better than others.

Finally I decided to buckle down and write this gauge. I think it
turned out well and does an fairly good job. The main user
interface is simply a virtual toggle switch that allows you to turn
the sound off/on if you wish. I did it this way as opposed to a "hidden"
gauge. You can made it pretty small if you want to, or even repaint the
switch bmps to black (RGB(0,0,0). The rest is automatic. As you increase
the power to your chopper the gauges rotor sound picks up in tempo, and
the tempo decreases as you decrease your power.

You'll notice that if your playing the sound (IE: gauge is on) that
it plays everywhere in FS. This is just the way it is, although I'd
have done it differently if the soltion was obvious and not
overly complex.

If you have a bug report feel free to send it to me. Include as much
detail as posisble. But please refrain from sending bug reports caused
by editing the gauge, failure to put it in your panel.cfg correctly,
ect... thanks.

You can use this gauge with your regular chopper sounds. It's seems
to work ok with the default Bell206 sounds. But some other helo's sounds/
sound.cfg's might need some tweeking to create a reasonable sound when
using this gauge. I'll entrust that to your good hands. Very breifly
I'll show one way to edit the Bell206B sound.cfg if you want to get
rid of the default "interior" sound, after that your on you own.
